Marveled by Marni

Remember several years back when Marni , at Villa Moda may it rest in peace, was the look to be seen in? Dressed from head to toe in eclectic accessories and mismatched prints? When people used to fight on the day they release new season's collection? Guess what? Years later and I'm still not over this look.  I love the esthetic of Marni and what it stands for. And although it's been a while since I last bought from Marni 's necklaces, I still strongly believe that they sure add a certain eclectic charm to any look. I spotted theses retro/funky Marni necklaces at Harvey Nichols Kuwait the other day from the brand's Resort collection, and I fell in love with it. They'd definitely add a chic impact worn with a patterned or a monochrome pieces.

Carry Your Valentino

Although I haven't been a huge fan of studs for quite some time, I find this Valentino Rockstud oversized leather clutch sort of appealing. Maybe its nude colors, or the fact that it's so easy to wear and pair with almost anything in your closet, or simply because I love oversized clutches, whatever that reason is, this clutch definitely gets two thumbs up. It's available now at the brand's boutique in the Avenues/Prestige. Price tag? Around KD 350 more or less. *Street style photo credit streetpeeper.com and wishtrend.net

Webby Wednesday: TheGenteel.com

I love discovering new online fashion publications, my latest find is The Genteel , a fast growing online fashion publication, fully backed by Lebanese Private Equity investors, with a truly unique mandate of focusing on intellectual and in-depth fashion content that span globally. The Genteel delivers stories on fashion and design through many lenses such as business, society, culture and commentary. They are headquartered in Toronto, but with broad reach as their writers are located in over twenty countries, and by year-end they aim to have a foot-hold in all continents. You can find out more about them by clicking here .

To the Pointy

I have this strange obsession with pointed toe flats. To me, they're the chicest form of flats, unfortunately they aren't always the most comfortable. But I know for a fact, and from experience, that a good pair of pointed toe flats can go a long way and make you look so polished no matter what you're wearing. I spotted these turquoise colored pointed toe flats by Jimmy Choo at the brand's boutique in The Avenues the other day. It's part of their new cruise collection. If you're interested, they're selling for KD 143. Too bad they didn't fit me well, maybe they'd look perfect on extremely narrowed feet.

Proenza's PS1 Perfection

I don't think I have ever seen a Proenza Schouler PS1 in such a lovely combination of deep coral shade and exotic leather texture. This would make a perfect lasting impression while running your day-to-day errands. I spotted it at Harvey Nichols Kuwait , but unfortunately I'm not sure of its price tag. Added to my wish list for now...

Tom Ford is finally in Kuwait... Glamorously!

I was walking around Prestige the other day, the Grand Avenues' luxury high-end boutiques section, and saw Tom Ford's boutique already open. I'm not sure when it opened exactly, but I was very excited to finally see it right then and there in front of me. The store is absolutely chic. however, It was a bit.. too quiet. It actually felt like stepping into a private salon, I can barely hear my footsteps because of the thick carpet. The furniture was sleek and clean, the entire ambiance felt very sensual and glamorous. Everything was finished with a top-to-toe perfection. The boutique was displaying women's wear collection, handbags (yup the Natalia was there too in 4 different shades), jewelry, small leather goods, and accessories. I was instantly hooked to a pair of black lace-up sandals, as shown in the photo above, and a pair of metallic cat-eye sunglasses. hmm, need to get my shopping priorities straight, these will be added to my wish list for now until I sort...

Locked Up

One of the best window displays in the Avenues has to be British brand Mulberry in Phase II. I always look forward to their new theme. The other day while walking by, I noticed that they have changed their " Where the wild things are " theme to oversized keys and padlocks with the signature Mulberry logo engraved into them. Mulberry handbags were strategically placed on top of the padlocks. I'm not sure if this new display resemble anything specific to the brand, all I know that the shimmering gold of the keys and padlocks was quite mesmerizing to look at.

Copy Cat: Elena Perminova's Tibi Coral Prints

Isn't it amazing how street style photographers' main attraction the past couple of seasons is the new Russian federation of luxurious fashion elites. And I'm not surprised, Mira and co. are always impeccably dressed in the latest runway designs before they even hit the shop floors. And today we take our Copy Cat cue from Russian socialite Elena Perminova.  Elena was dressed in Tibi at resort collection inspired by the marine life. The fun and original coral patterns were worked into the collection of dresses, tops, and pants, and they range between KD 112 and KD 163. Not bad at all! You can shop the collection online by clicking here .  Elena Perminova's photo credit: tibi.com

Isolda.. A Little bit of Rio in K-town

The moment I stepped inside N boutique in Burj Jassim, I squealed with joy. I was greeted by three mannequins dressed in gorgeous and super feminine pieces covered in fun and playful tropical prints. Everything about the pieces on display screamed ME! I love colorful mismatched prints on feminine silhouettes. I had to know who the designer was. I took a closer look at the clothes tag and it read Isolda . With a little help from Mr. Google, I came to know that architect and textile designer Alessandra Affonso Ferreira is the creative force behind Brizalian/London-based brand Isolda . She was trained at the Chelsea College of Arts and Design, and I'm not quite sure but I think this is her first collection because I only saw one collection on her website . The pieces in store were a selection of tops, pants, and short and maxi skirts. The only drawback? The sizes of the skirts were tiny! A size large would probably fit size 8 or 10 UK? If you're super skinny, you have not...

Marc-ed

I just received an e-mail from our fashionisto Yousef Al Taher informing me that he and his Marc Jacobs doll were featured in not one, not two, but three international magazines' Paris Fashion Week street style section: VOGUE PARIS , VOGUE ITALEA , and Woman's Wear Daily . How cool is that? WTG Yousef!

Outfit of the Day

Ever since I discovered Japanese brand Sacai , and it has always been on my must-buy seasonal list. The designer uses the finest quality knits and combines them in an unusual way with other elements and different fabrics and textures. At first sight you would think that the person is wearing a number of separates layered in a creative way when in fact  the garments that look like separates are really one piece . The result? A piece that is amazing and utterly unique at the same time.   This season I bought this Sacai dress which looks like a long knitted navy-colored top in the front, and on the back it looks like a forest green pleated skirt paired with a classic blue shirt. This dress has to be my favorite buy of the season. I got it end of last Summer from boutique Le Grand Bazar in Cannes. I paired it with my Halston lizard-print wedge heels in bright orange, grey knitted tights from TopShop , and my Olympia le Tan book clutch.

Bottega Veneta's Tea Party

I've been so out of touch with some of the stores lately, there's not enough time throughout the day I guess! I just recently noticed the new theme of Bottega Veneta 's window display at Al Hamra Mall. According to my friend, it's been there for almost a month now. I loved how they've re-created some of their iconic bags, clutches, shoes, and wallets into what it looks like edible cakes and pastries in pretty pastel colors, all served on glass cake stands. Now that's what I call a très chic tea party.

Event: Beautifully Wicked

The search for the the most divine clutches, unique jewellery, and the latest "it" accessories just got even easier as AlOthman boutique recently launched its new and expanded fashion accessories section. The launch was celebrated with an event titled Beautifully Wicked . Housing the latest must-have brands from global names such as Nicholas Kirkwood , Chrissie Morris , and Judith Leiber , to designers of the moment including Sophia Webster , Aperlai , Edie Parker , and Ninas de Papa , the space showcased the very best of women’s accessories in an easy-to-browse and inspiring edit. Even though I equally loved everything that was displayed, I had to say that I got mostly excited about the selection of vintage accessories dating back from the 50's and 60's by big names such as Chanel , Dior , Lanvin , YSL , and Givenchy . The pieces looked so... how do I explain it... now and timeless! Ninas de Papa floral headbands were a big hit too among the crowd. Scroll ...
