Structured shoulders hit the runways the past two seasons in all shapes and forms. And of course that’s no news to you. But now that the sale’s all over K-town, would you still scout for  this trend or are you over and done with the strong shoulders? I spotted this Paule Ka purplish dress with a cute side bow. The shoulders details were mix of sharper/softer structure with more compact to them. I actually liked the fitting AND it was on sale. I think the price tag after sale was around KD 200. I found another dress with the same shoulder effect but it was kind of shapeless; maybe it would look more flattering paired with a thick multi-buckle belt.          Paule Ka boutique is located at the Avenues Phase II, close to the English Tea Room. 

Even though I know a lot of of people who shop at Designers' Lounge , for some reason, I rarely shop at their Salhiya boutique, maybe the merchandise display was not very inviting. And up until yesterday, I have never been to their Avenues branch. So when I decided to have a look at their Avenues branch, I was taken by surprise by how discerningly stocked boutique it is.  Designers' Lounge is very heavy on women's casual chic/semi formal clothes and accessories, with a scant supply of evening wear & accessories tucked in a corner of the shop. I found the display to be  a colorful and had a well-edited selection of different lesser known and established brands popping against the shop’s bright white interior. Remember last March when I posted about Marni's project which aims to give less fortunate children a brighter future through producing a line of 240 cotton shopping bags with paintings from children living in Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala, Tibet, and India? The bags were sold out at Marni Boutique's in Villa Moda . But now I found another batch, not sure if they are from the same project (neither the sales assistant), but  from the looks of the bags and the drawings on them I'm assuming they are. They look cute..

  I have posted about this event a few days back, but honestly after visiting the exhibition earlier today, the photos I have seen on Mirzam Manifesto's blog did not do them justice. I'm not surprised that all the work of Anas Al-Omaim and Jassim Al-Saddah has sold out within hours of the exhibition's launch. All their artwork was impeccably well done and creatively mesmerizing. They incorporated old Kuwaiti proverbs and popular slang into digitalized photos of things that reminded us of our childhood in a very pop-artish/Warhol-ish way. Both Anas and Jassim were present and they walked us through the exhibition explaining the idea behind each art piece. Very friendly and very well-spoken. I have taken few photos featured here. Ali Cha'aban will be hosting his next exhibition called “ Some Call It Noise ”. This is the third installment of his work, the name of the event illustrates that the notion of art can transcend beyond the visual senses and appeal to even more than one.
