Darraa'at Em Walid

Em Walid is a local brand for collection of darra'at. The designers behind Em Walid are two saty-at-home moms (they're sisters) and they wanted to venture into something they like and have the leisure of independence. So they have decided to design & sell local dresses "darraa'a". Em Walid designers had an exhibition previously and sold around 150 pieces. And they have kindly e-mailed me asking to post about their brand.

I must say that the designs of Em Walid are classy and elegant. And from the pictures shown above, the embroidery looks clean and very neat. it might not appeal to the younger crowd as much but I know for sure that my mom would LOVE it. So how about you treat your mother and buy her something nice for the endless "ghabgas" she'll get invited to. The prices range between KD 70 to KD 250. Click here to view all the collection.

I like it when designers really put an effort into their work. I hate it when "local designers" use the philosophy that "no one will see it but me". A true fashionista would know a good quality localaly made dress/dara3a from the cheap ones. Plus a true fashionista would look carefuly to the finishing of the dress/dara3a before making the decision of throwing KD 300+ on something that is worth much less.

Saks In Bahrain

I went to Saks Fifth Avenue store in Bahrain. The two-level store is located in City Centre Mall and has a collection of American and international clothes designers for Men and Women as well as jewelry, accessories, handbags, fragrances, cosmetics, intimate apparel, bridal, and children's apparel. However, I was slightly disappointed by the small selection, maybe because all items were on sale? Or the number and variety of brands were limited? Anyhow, my favourite section at Saks - Bahrain was Saks's world-famous 10022-SHOE salon (shown in the photo below). It had the same look & feel of the NY's shoe salon but of course not the same space. The Shoe Salon had really nice selection and they were all on sale! I have been told by Saks Sales Assistant that they will be hosting numerous special events throughout the year such as fashion shows and personal appearances by designers. Now that's something I'd be interested in! In addition, they currently offer in-st
