Keep an eye on NohaNoor

Last week I discovered a new Kuwaiti talent who designs and produces her own clothes line under the name NohaNoor. I viewed photos posted on her Facebook group for some of her creations. Impressed would be an understatement. Her clothes have a mixture of 50's and 60's era with a distinctive contemporary twist. They look beautifully and very well-made.

I think NohaNoor brings something fresh & new to the (Kuwaiti) table. It is refreshing to see that there are still creative designers out there, who don't copy looks from runways and sell them for an arm and a leg in a cheap looking exhibition.

The photos featured here give you a tiny peek of NohaNoor's Autumn/Winter 2008 collection. If you have any questions about the collection, you can e-mail NohaNoor at loolee.bob@gmail.com.

I just looked at her facebook pics and I must agree with you that she does have a very nice and different approach rather than the typical arab designers who go embelished and embroidered from top to toe, if u know wat i mean.I'll definitely consider buying some of her dresses... :)

Glamorous Evening

I'm a wee bit late with my Dubai posts, which I have visited during the Eid holiday, as I've been quite busy lately with some side projects. There is just not enough time to get everything done, need to work on my time management skills. Oh well, you know what they say, better late than never. So in this post I'll be sharing with you some few evening gowns and cocktail dresses which took my breath away, three of which I've spotted at Symphony Boutique located at Dubai Mall. Check out this glamorous Zac Posen (if my memory serves me right) strapless gown shown in the photo above, I know that Zac Posen is stocked in AlOthman boutique as well, not sure if they have this one in stock. Symphony also had this extravagant red gown with puff embroidered sleeves on the window display also by Zac Posen . And while shopping around Bloomingdale's Dubai , I spotted this block-colored cocktail dress which looked very familiar and then when I read the brand's name

Delicate Armour

Raised in Dubai and living between London and the UAE, Central Saint Martins graduate, Delia Covezzi , has been quietly cultivating her reputation as a talented clothing and accessory designer. Following successful apprenticeships with Stella McCartney and Tata Naka, she went on to design and produce exclusive collections for a range of top boutiques in Europe and the Middle East. I took a look at Covezzi's S/S 2010 collection and immediately noticed the mix of contrasting elements of her pieces. Sharp tailoring in hues of silver and dove grey, and classic black and white, with a hint of bold coral hues and delicate graphic prints, from soft French chiffons to crisp Italian organza; from textured pearl satins to finely-ribbed silk twills; adding an edge to the feminine yet bold look. According to Delia , the S/S 2010 collection draws inspiration from the visual and structural similarities between armour and bird’s plumage. Delia’s fascination of how something so strong and st
