Bargain Bags

They say all you need is a statement accessory and your outfit is made, but sometimes finding that standout piece without breaking the bank can be a challenge. That's why the sale season is the best time of the shopping year to hunt for designer deals. Of course any item you spot must be well-studied before making a purchase. of course rule number one should be not to buy just for the sake of the discount. You should question how often it will be worn or if it will compliment your wardrobe or not.

With this thought, I decided to showcase three statement handbags/clutches that I spotted at the sale of Harvey Nichols Kuwait, which I truly believe will stand the test of time. We have Diane von Furstenberg's lips clutch in a beautiful shade of pink, the designer introduced the same style for S/S 2013 as well. The before price was KD 119 and now it is priced at KD 83.

Pierre Hardy's signature color-block leather shoulder bag, which also can be worn as a clutch. This style has been introduced for at least the past 2-3 years, so it's there to stay. Price tag was KD 234 and now it's priced at KD 117.

The Row covetable leather backpack is the uptimome of street style uber-chicness. Price tag was KD 1,239 and now it is priced at around KD 619 (OK I wouldn't call this a bargain, but for The Row's price range, this is a good price).

Magical Mode

As anyone who regularly reads Confashions may know, there are some designers I’ve been obsessed with for quite some time: one is the genius Erdem , the other is Nicholas Kirkwood , and Pierre Hardy . And because their designs are somehow easily accessible online and offline, I had the pleasure of featuring some of their creations and showing them the love they deserve. That said, there is one designer I’ve been particularly smitten with for quite some time. He has always been on the top of my favorite designers list ever since I was introduced to his designs by my fabulous fellow fashionisto Adnan Z Manjal   a couple of years back : Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi . I always wished I featured him more. I couldn’t because his pieces are very exclusive and as far as I know not stocked anywhere here. This clearly isn't just another post on my obvious love for Mohammed Ashi’s designs or the quality of his clothes as I have done that previously. Ashi simply deserves his very own epic p...

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?
