Event: ZAY Traditions & innovations


Al Sadu Society cordially invites you to an exhibition of Kuwaiti Fashion “ZAY Traditions & innovations”. The event is hosted by Shaikha Altaf Salem A. AlSabah , an Anthropologist as well as author of two books on the arts and culture of Kuwait .

Shaikha Altaf is the Patron and Honorary president of the AlSadu Weaving Cooperative Society, this venture into design on her part is with the main objective of focusing more on some of Kuwait's intensely vivid creations from the past which can work well in our modern world.

The event will be held from Sunday 15 February (6:00 pm) to 22 February at Al Sadu House - Arabian Gulf Road. For any inquiries, please call (+965) 2243-2395 or you can send an e-mail to info@alsadu.org.kw. Proceeds of the sales will go to the HAYAT Charity, caring for cancer patients in Kuwait

That Kuwait is more fashion forward than any other country in the region save Lebanon is stating the bleeding obvious. However, it will be interesting to see how post Zay, ladies will come out wearing their Etro kaftans, zardosi embellished abayas, velvet Nafnoufs and satin Zenoubs.
Already we are beginning to see a fusion take place with men's fashion in Kuwait where you find 30 plus men in Armani ghetras wearing pinstriped Kenzo and Zegna suits. Certainly very vintage very Bethlehem very West Bank!

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?
