H&M's tribute to Marimekko hit the Avenues store recently. Marimekko who?! Marimekko is a Finnish design company famous for it's bold graphics and prints from the 1960s and 70s. The limited collection is all about colors and huge crazy patterns. What do I think of designed items of the collection? Nothing really stood out besides the actual fun and bold retro prints. The collection carried wardrobe basics in addition to swimwear. I have to admit though, the collection really made me long for a nice tropical getaway. I came across this stunning Proenza Schouler navy one shoulder dress, ruched from the front and adorned with one of spring/summer's most surprising trends.. Feathers ! My second option was this red hot Malandrino cocktail dress fir for a true fashion princess. Forget Vogue for a day now and head straight to Alothman to get their latest copy of Muse , your Spring/Summer guide of what will be available instore. I have to admit, this edition of Muse is by far, much funkier, focused, and fashionista-friendly than the first edition. Skimming through the pages of Muse allows you to browse hundreds of looks categorized either by trend or by brand name (listed alphabetically for our convenience, bless you Alothman ). And what I really liked about it is that they had a dedicated e-mail for orders and inquiries, and a "Must Haves" page to list down your favourites. This is definitely not your typical store's attempt to be the next Vogue magazine. It's merely a lookbook focused on Alothman's merchandise and designers' inspirations behind their creations. Today I have received an invitation from Villa Moda to attend a special traditional Kuwaiti ceremony in honor of the opening of the new Villa Moda Almanshar , which will be held on Sunday 6th April 2008 at Almanshar Mall, Fahaheel around 8:00 PM. I praise Villa Moda for their approach of hosting an event with a traditional Kuwaiti theme. I loved the concept of having a traditional Kuwaiti dance (Samri and Nagazzi) and requesting invitees to dress in traditional Kuwaiti attire: women in darra'as and men in dishadeesh. It would be very interesting to see who had the best looking daraa'a on. However, I have 5 words to the person who designed the invitation shown above: " Seriously. What were you thinking?!! ". Whoever came up with the invitation design needs to be punished! OK, that's a harsh word, so let's just say: he should be held responsible if anything goes wrong during the event, even if it's not related to design! Sounds fair to me. ( Sorry VM guys...

Finally MAC Kuwait received the much-hyped limited make-up edition by French graffiti artist Fafi . I checked out the make-up line, nothing we haven't seen before by MAC in terms of make-up colors, shine, and textures. But the packaging is sooo adorable that I couldn't resist buying a lipstick in a shade that I already probably had 3 of. I was also impressed that the Kuwaiti MAC store actually had the cosmetic bag, the see-through plastic Fafi bag, and a MAC Fafi brochure in an unbelievably cute Fafi envelope to give it to whoever purchases from the MAC Fafi line. My only disappointment? They didn't have the MAC Fafi figurines which I was sooo looking forward to buy and decorate my room with. What is your favourite MAC lipstick?
