Confashions From Kuwait

It's this time of the year. You're invited to at least 2 weddings in May/June. You're on the look for THE dress. And this time it's got to be SHORT and STUNNING. Looking for the right evening dress in Kuwait is like looking for a " bokhnag " in Barneys NY. You only have 3 places to go to and everybody who's anybody is either at AlOstoura , or Al- Othman (pictured here) or Villa Moda . So the element of surprise is almost non- existent . Girls, I'm on a mission and I'm determined o find this dress. I'll keep you updated on my shopping missions. Starting tomorrow... wish me luck.

THIS is the bag on my S/S shopping list. A bag that helps in making the world a better place. A bag that will not break my shopping budget (costs around KD 3). Unfortunately and as usual, it is extremely hard to get :( Only 500 bags have been created world wide and most are now dangling on the arms of Hollywood's it girls. The story behind this bag is that " We Are What We Do " organization asked Anya Hindmarch to create a practical bag for them to sell and benefit from it's purchases to serve the environment especially that the average person uses 167 plastic bags a year. So far of what I have known of, the bag will not be available online. You can only purchase it at Anya's stores or Sainsbury ’s stores on 25 th April. So... No bag for me, that's for sure :(

I'm neither impressed nor amused by what I have seen so far of Kate Moss's collection & design for TopShop ... I honestly think it's a big advertising scam for the fashion junkies and celebrity addicts around the world who cannot afford to look like a million bucks. Besides, if it worked for Victor & Rolf, it doesn't necessarily mean it will work for you guys (Madonna & Kate)Anyways, click here to get a sneak preview. The collection will be released 1st May.

The next item on my Spring/Summer to-buy List is Chloe's Bakelite Necklace. I think it looks very original, and we already got tired from Marni's same old designs. Chloe's necklace is like a fresh of breath air. The only drawback is that it costs around KD 170. Is it worth it? Well, our summer's long and it can be worn with almost any color. So yes, I think it's worth it. I'm not sure if you can get it from Chloe's store in Kuwait. And even if they do, it's highly unlikely to get it if you don't go to store on the day of the collection half an hour before the store actually opens!

Go to Lorenzo, Salhiya, or Maki on any week night and you'd porobably find at least 5 girls carrying the new balenciaga (with the golden studs).. 4 other girls carrying different shades of Marni's baloon bag (haven't seen one carrying the yellow balllon bag yet...).. ten girls carruing the same Chanel coco cabas... What is this obsession with carrying the it bag of the season!! it's not going to make you the next Lindsay, MK&A, or Nicole! especially in Kuwait.. To me an IT bag should be: A bag that has no been carried around by 1/2 of the kuwaiti female population Can only be seen in the magazine once throughout the season Makes people wonder "What is this bag?" Should not be worn by Paris Hilton. What is your bag for this season???

If there is one dress I'd like to wear and have the body to carry it off, it would be the latest creation of designer Christopher Kane. To me, it's one of the most creative design, made with such sensuality and delicacy, with a little bit of rock & roll. I can see it being worn for a milcha (small wedding) or maybe when you're traveling for a fancy dinner in NY or Paris. Unfortunately, you will not be able to buy his collection online. Today I have recieved a letter from one of the publishing companies I subscribed through to get my monthly fashion magazines fix. The letter said: " I am sorry to inform you that Happy Magazine has ceased publication" WHAAAAAT!!!!NOOOOOOOOO!! It can't be!!! HAPPY is my fashion insider!!!! My little black book!! How could this happen to me! I'm no longer going to recieve my favourite magazine ever?! I loved everything about it.. to me it was the best fashion magazine ever.
