Fur-ever

Forget your pashminas and shahtooshs, this season Fur is back in a big way. Real or faux fur, recently celebs, including the Olsen Twins, Kate Moss, and Sarah Jessica Parker, were all spotted wearing fur on their night outs.

I think it's more appropriate here in Kuwait to wear fur for formal events and special occasions only (and NO! going to Salhiya Complex or Lorenzo does not count as a special occasion!). I know the weather these days is not helping much to sport this trend, but think of it this way, fur is something that would never ever go out of style, so buying a fur coat is a true investment piece. Besides, if you can't wear your fur for outdoor events, you can always wear it in freezing hotel party halls.

Anyhow, I found a really nice selection of mink and rabbit furs at a store located in Marina Mall called Zerbaft (next to Miss Sixty). Here is a sample of what's in store:

The fur selection of throws, collars, and coats is by a French brand called Yves Salomon who is very famous in the fur fashion. Apparently, the brand has been in this industry since 1850 and has recently collaborated with Oscar De La Renta on some designs for it's fall collection.

The fur coats price range between KD 500 and KD 740. Go have a look if you're interested. According to the sales lady, they are selling them like hotcakes.

shame on kate moss for posing in those anti-fur ads 'id rather be naked than wear fur' and then go and wear fur!

i think the only ppl who should wear fur are the ones living in freezing cold climates, who actually need the warmth of it and will catch and kill the animals in a humane way. not like the greedy vultures who run fur farms driven by nothing than $$$. im not judging anyone who wears fur [even those who wear it in kuwait's warm winters!] just sharing my personal opinion

Is it just me who feels colder in Kuwait during warm temperatures than when i travel abroad?
I agree that the origin of fur was the purpose of being warm..however that debate is very old and it has now become a statement of wealth. but depending on where you live you will see more (italy) or less (kuwait) of fur worn.
However, I would gladly wear fur in Kuwait. After all, dont we all get chauffeured around from one cold mall to a restaurant to a private party???
There is no much walking outside whether in a teeshirt or fur so you might as well indulge and look fabulous...
If you ask me i rather see more fur on Kuwaitis to cover up some of their fashion faux pas ;)
Oh but pls lets at least keep the colour of the fur understated like the ones posted!!

Ur absolutely right. Fur is an investment peice.

But i'm kind of anti-fur at the moment. I've seen what they do to those poor animals. :((

Faux fur is great! But I still will wear my mom's old furs. I just wont buy new ones (or I'll try).

See am against animal cruelty but I love my Furs! London is the place to wear those soft delicate furs so they can keep me snuggled in while am out and about. Yet I still feel horrible when I get the odd look here and there for wearing such beauties.. At the end of the day am sorry you little creatures but you do feel amazing ;)

personally, i think fur (good quality, Fendi chin does NOT equal Zara rabbit!!) should be worn to the max. You should get as much use out of your furs as possible but not over satin sweatpants i beg you. Really, Confashions, whats wrong with wearing a nice astrakhan or shaved mink/weasel out shopping? Right now im falling all over this dove grey Fendi featherweight trecot mink coat!

and fourme, if you care for your safety do NOT wear fur in London! thats PETA-freak CENTRAL

I still can't accept the idea of wearing fur on shopping sprees here in Kuwait. The image just doesn't fit ;)

Chanel Dubai Cruise 2015 Collection

I can't remember if I shared my views about Chanel's Dubai Cruise 2015 Collection on my blog or not, but I thought I'd share with you some photos of the pieces on display now at Chanel Boutique in Kuwait, Prestige in the Avenues and Salhiya Complex. I wasn't too crazy about the clothes. However, I did like some of the bags which had pompoms and tassels on them, as well as the gigantic pearl clutch. I also loved the Moroccan-inspired pointy flats and the silver jewelry adorned with coins and crescents. Of course the shoes were sold out in my size and I wasn't so crazy about the patterned ones. I LOVED the flap bag with Pom Poms, but it was above my budget. Overall the collection felt more Moroccan than Dubai-an. I wish if they have incorporate more of the our gulf region's culture into the designs. Oh And I added to this post photos of Chanel's milk carton shaped python clutch bag embellished with a CC signature. They're not part of the Dubai colle

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?

To New Beginnings...

"What did this Corona crisis teach you?" my friend asked. My first thought was thing crisis has opened my eyes on the simple pleasures of life. My priorities have changed. And I feel every day is a new beginning. First of all, it made me realize how much I miss blogging. How simple and mentally satisfying it was to jolt down my thoughts on a field that I was very passionate about. I have to admit that I'm not as passionate now. Don't get me wrong, I still like fashion, but it's now on the bottom of my priorities list. I would like to blog about other things too that I feel much related to. I recently discovered that I do enjoy cooking. For the longest time, cooking to me was a nightmare.  This corona crisis has taught us that we can look forward to a new day with new possibilities to contribute or to help another, or to simply approach things differently, and most importantly to make the most of each day we have and share that goodness with others.
