Confashions From Kuwait

Dior Fusion sneakers. The most talked about sneakers in social media accounts. They made their runway debut during the Spring 2014 couture show, and I instantly fell in love with both Dior 's and Chanel 's sneakers, which unfortunately won't go into production. And now that the Dior sneakers have finally landed at the brand's boutique world wide, for some reason my passion suddenly fizzled out. Could it be that the sneakers have been overly exposed on the social media? Or maybe the thought of dishing our KD 330+ on a pair of sneakers is not sitting well with me (yup I'm trying to get wiser with my purchases, especially with all the "shopping mistakes" I've done past seasons). That said, I do strongly appreciate their beauty and the couture craftsmanship behind them, especially after seeing this video. Thoughts?

"Pro-én-za Shoo-ler?!" But I always pronounced it as "Pro-én-za Skoo-ler", I said to my colleague once. I kept hearing different pronunciations and I have no clue what's correct. I couldn't quite figure out how to pronounce the brand's name, until I saw this video today, confirming I was right all along. Proenza Schouler and Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, the biggest and the oldest department store in Paris, present a film by HARRYS. An experimental documentary, the film is portrait of the designers behind  Proenza Schouler  and utilizies a variety of visual formats to provide details about the designers' evolving inspirations while offering a look into their artistic practice. In presenting moments of suspended reality, the film attempts to capture the elusive creative process behind modern fashion design.

Seems like   Fendi 's  little furry monsters, a.k.a. "Bag Bugs," which I have previously posted about here , are getting even more popular and a whole lot of buzz as the "it" Holidays gift for your fashion loving friends. In fact, the Fendi group recently released this fun video ad to promote the little furry bugs. This fella is still hanging on my bag(s) ever since I bought it last September. My way of uncovering the true value of my purchases I guess.

Moda Operandi  have appointed LA based, cult illustrator Jamie Lee Reardin to animate the online trunk show experience from start to finish. Like a mini-fairytale, her impossibly elegant protagonist sees the runway show, whose front-row is complete with charming renditions of some of the industries most illustrious characters (I spy TTH). She naturally desires the dress, later logs on to  Moda Operandi  and clicks to buy in her size. On delivery of her coveted piece, just a few months later, she gives the camera a contagious wink!  Moda Operandi  s message; don’t dilly-dally; there is nothing to fear but the tragedy of missing that must-have piece .

I have just received this teaser video from Fendi 's  team of Karl Lagerfeld's film starring Cara Delevingne, Saskia De Brauw and Lady Harlech. The story takes places on a still evening, two elegant young women arrive at a grand, time-peeled mansion to attend a black tie dinner party, invited by a mysterious host. I'm in love with how Cara's hair was styled, would definitely go for this look for a change if I have a wedding to attend.  The  Fendi  film will be featured on the site in the coming days.

Remember my previous post on Kuwaiti Director Dana Al Mojil , winning the Best Director award at the Fifth Gulf Film Festival in Dubai for her movie Wonderland: A True Story? Well now you can watch the entire movie online. Wonderland is an adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass” that is set in Kuwait. it highlights the similarities between the social and political situation in modern Kuwait and Wonderland. The film starts when Alice doesn’t understand why does the Ace “in playing cards” equals 11 when it says one . And that becomes her mission that drives her through all the hierarchy of changing in Kuwait. On her way, for better or worse, she meets the Cheshire cat , the Mad hatter, Mosa’ed and Mes’ed " tweddlee Dee and tweddlee Dum ", the Caterpillar, the Joker and the Queen, which will shape the outcome of her mission.

It really is interesting to get to see what happens behind the scenes of a fashion show. This backstage video is of Lanvin's A/W 2013 collection. According to the description of the video clip "the Lanvin studio is a laboratory of emotions in which fabric is the means to express every metamorphosis and bright idea. Stories are told in sparkling letters, and the words "Love", "You", "Hot", "Cool" become medallions that glitters in the night."

Apparently Zac Posen designed a dress made of 24K gold, worth a whooping $1.5 million (!!), for Magnum Ice Cream’s new vanilla bean and salted caramel Gold bar. The gown made its debut at Tribeca Film Festival premiere of Magnum’s short film, As Good As Gold , starring actress Caroline Correa and True Blood’s Joe Manganiello.

This has got to be one of the coolest display shows for an accessories brand this season! Amazing show by Anya Hindmarch .
