Here are some behind-the-scenes shots of Closet Candy's Fall 2010 Lookbook exclusive to Confashions. One of the shots was featured in the recent issue of Harper's Bazaar Arabia. Can you imagine the time and effort it takes to produce a lookbook which we normally scan for several minutes? It's not only about the photographer and the hair and makeup. And it's definitely not "it's all in my head and got it all planned" situation. Just off the too of my head, the person in charge needs a storyboard, the right set-up, models,snacks, lights... etc. After witnessing an actual photoshoot, I truly appreciate the effort any retailer puts in creating it. Now here’s something unique and artisanal that you don’t normally see while shopping around malls and without doubt would tickle every vintage-fashionista’s fancy. Fashion house Clements Ribeiro designed a limited edition line of dresses entirely made of recycled vintage scarves.  The carefully selected vintage silk scarves are sewn together in a mismatched manner to create a sleek and delicate shift dress.  The dress has asymmetric twist detail at the neckline and softly pleated skirt  No two pieces are alike. And a great effort was made to use scarves which are both beautiful and in very good condition. You will notice some irregularity in texture and color as well as minimal wear, but that’s all part of the vintage design concept. Price tag? All hail the McQueen ! I spotted these Alexander McQueen dresses in Harvey Nichols Dubai and I immediately felt overwhelmed by the exquisiteness of some of the pieces form the designer’s last collection for Fall 2010. The stunning billowy dresses, cut in hourglass silhouettes, were a mix of Dark Age sophistication with a modern edge. They felt so majestic! He really was a fashion genius, definitely a collector’s item.  On a lighter note, I liked the window display of Dior’s Boutique with its gigantic Lady Dior bag skeleton. I was never a fan of Dior bags, but now with their recent ads and the bag's classic appeal, I’m starting to warm up to the idea of owning a Lady Dior .

The leading Chinese luxury brand Shanghai Tang has just opened its first boutique in Kuwait at The Avenues Mall Phase II (next to Hackett ). The small but upscale boutique offers a selection of Asian-inspired contemporary ready-to-wear for men, women, and kids in addition to funky accessories and home furnishings. This is a designer store so some items in store come with somewhat heavy price tags. Nevertheless, I find it to be a great place to find gifts for family and close friends.  Especially that some items are really unique and would last for a life time, so I wouldn’t mind to dish out some cash for my loved ones.  Here are some of my favorite things… I loved these small coffee cups with koi fish design A tea mug with built-in filter Men's leather wallet with a Chinese dragon design. My apologies for the late report on Lanvin for H&M's launch as it has been quite busy for me lately. And by now you already know the madness that occurred that day. So I'll just share some bits and pieces of my experience. And I'd like to thank my friend for allowing me to snap some photos of her accessories (she describes them as her most prized possessions). I didn't see any when I got there so it was a treat to get an up-close look at them. Things that I overheard: "I was here since 6:00 in the morning!!" "That girl bought 5 pieces of the same item! Not fair!" "How come there are no purchasing rules applied here like they did in US and UK?!!" "Can I buy that fur jacket from you for double the price?" "Anyone wants that size 12 floral dress?" with her head peeping out from the fitting room. A Lanvin brooch I loved this red tulle dress, but its belt was missing, plus I felt it suited someone who has looong
