I vividly remember the first time I saw Nejoud Boodai on KTV, or was it MBC, and got to know about her journey as a fashion designer. It was probably 10 years ago and I remember during her interview, she showed us a sketch of a men’s suit designed by her and I was blown away by her creative design and how she used the buttons of the blazer and made them somehow attached to the button-down shirt. I was mesmerized by her creativity, confidence, and motivation. And I think she won an award for this specific design. Years later she ventured into different businesses and one of them was the launch of N.B. Boutique which I have featured on my blog on numerous occasions, actually the above photo was the first photo I've taken of her boutique. It’s one of my favorite places for unique gift ideas and lovely hard to find accessories.
Sadly, Nejoud Boodai passed away two days ago. Gone but definitely not forgotten. She will always be remembered as one of the first Kuwaiti fashion icons. For fear of sounding cliché, I’ll end this post with a link to Nejoud Boodai’s bio.
