Reviving Your Fendi baguette

Remember almost 15 years ago when the Fendi baguette was the "it" bag to carry? I remember my sister was in Milan when she first saw this colorful delicately and intricately embroidered baguette bag decorated with small  mirror discs. I clearly recall her describing it to me over the phone, all excited about her new purchase and I couldn't wait for her to come back and see it up close. And when I did, I was startled by it's beauty the bag was even more stunning than what I have imagined it to be.

15 years later, Fendi decided to do an exclusive reissue edition of six of their favorite Fendi Baguettes. And guess what I saw on the window display of Fendi boutique in Dubai? Yup, the bag itself. I went inside to ask about the prices and I was shocked to find out that they super hiked up its price! Now the limited edition baguette is selling for around KD 1,100+. I think my sister got it for around KD 400 more or less? Good thing she is still holding on to her baguette!

So if you have managed to keep your Fendi Baguettes all those years, it is definitely time to carry them out again.

How about you send me a photo of YOUR Fendi baguette? I'd like to see how many of us still holding on to this bag. You can e-mail it/tweet it to me or instagram (@confashions) it (make sure to tag me so that I can be notified) and use the hashtag #confashionsFendi?? That sounds like a lot of fun!

It's all about reviving the classics!! I've seen ADR support this and its taken off since. Kenzo relaunched their iconic bag collection last year and were at the Avenues for their world tour, and who can ever forget Chanel's classic reissue line? I LOVE that we're bringing back the old in innovative ways. At the same time, It is such an exciting time to witness new designers take hold of the fashion spectrum and create their identities. It's so interesting! Who do you think is going to be around to reissue their classics in 50 years? Hmmm

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.

Magical Mode

As anyone who regularly reads Confashions may know, there are some designers I’ve been obsessed with for quite some time: one is the genius Erdem , the other is Nicholas Kirkwood , and Pierre Hardy . And because their designs are somehow easily accessible online and offline, I had the pleasure of featuring some of their creations and showing them the love they deserve. That said, there is one designer I’ve been particularly smitten with for quite some time. He has always been on the top of my favorite designers list ever since I was introduced to his designs by my fabulous fellow fashionisto Adnan Z Manjal   a couple of years back : Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi . I always wished I featured him more. I couldn’t because his pieces are very exclusive and as far as I know not stocked anywhere here. This clearly isn't just another post on my obvious love for Mohammed Ashi’s designs or the quality of his clothes as I have done that previously. Ashi simply deserves his very own epic p...

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?
