Fashion & Unfashion news

  • Pink will have a live concert in Dubai on September 5th, 2007? The concert will be held at Dubai Media City. Unfashionable news? I know but felt like mentioning it.

  • I know this is old news for most of you, but I'm going to post it anyways: Villa Moda Shuwaikh and Gucci Al Fanar are having 50% sale. Look for fall investment pieces.

  • BCBG are having their sale too. It doesn't hurt to buy a thing or two, does it?

  • US restaurant chain Hooters, renowned for its revealingly dressed waitresses, could open its first of three outlets in Dubai by the end of the year. A Kuwaiti investor, with franchise rights to Hooters in Dubai, has announced this in UAE's Media. Classy?

In response to the potential opening of Hooters in Dubai I can't help but think... what's the big deal? Prostitution is rampant in Dubai and its not like youré going to see anything you don't usually see in Dubai! :)

True and I coun't agree more. But I'm looking at it in a different view.. like I wouldn't want to be known for owning or running such business.. I want to be known for something classier..

When I was in the states I unfortunately was a patron of hooters once... by the way the girls aren't that pretty... the food was great though. Hooters opening in Dubai is a confirmation of our deterioration in terms of morals and values blah blah blah... then again how successful would a restaurant be where all waitresses dressed in abayas and niqabs... wait a minute... that might just work... if you think about it most ladies that wear abayas and niqabs nowadays have managed to twist this once conservative fashion element into one projecting a sexy image... come on ladies you know what I mean... so confashion... let's start a business and call it "VEILED" where all the waitresses are dressed in abayas and niqabs... it might just do well... especially as us arab man appreciate what is hidden as much as what is exposed :)

That's a shame... ultimately business is about the bottom line and not our ideology or am I incorrect? Correct me if I am wrong :) What type of business would you like to go into? Wait... fashion I assume... :)

As a man I appreciate the requirements we need to meet to stay trendy... However I myself am not a big fashion freak and most of my male counterparts share the same sentiment... Is that bad?

not at all. and as long as you don't wear suspenders, snake skin shoes, colorful rings, washed out jeans, or very worn in shoes. You're on the safe side..

Dubai would indeed make for a most idyllic setting for Hooters in the Middle East, what with the emirate having firmly established itself as the Prada prostitute capital of the world!
There's something else I tell you about Kuwaiti entrepreneurship overseas. A few years back a Kuwaiti businessman made it in the news by bringing Ann Summers into the Mideast and now again, it is a Kuwaiti businessman who'se become the poster boy for Hooters in the Middle East. Atta boys, way to go!Someone Kuwaiti should think about operating Playboy clubs in Dubai now . That will complete the trilogy for Q-wait.
This brings us to the question of why do Kuwaiti entrepreneurs do as well as they do operating outside of Kuwait but not inside the country??
'Fess up.

the sweet smell of smegma
I wouldn;t be surprised if playboy clubs open by Kuwaiti businessmen. Nothing is impossible these days..

why do Kuwaiti entrepreneurs do as well as they do operating outside of Kuwait but not inside the country? Because there is no future in Kuwait. It's Government & Parliment are unstable. Corruption has prevailed. And people do not respect the law. So why take the risk?

Chanel Dubai Cruise 2015 Collection

I can't remember if I shared my views about Chanel's Dubai Cruise 2015 Collection on my blog or not, but I thought I'd share with you some photos of the pieces on display now at Chanel Boutique in Kuwait, Prestige in the Avenues and Salhiya Complex. I wasn't too crazy about the clothes. However, I did like some of the bags which had pompoms and tassels on them, as well as the gigantic pearl clutch. I also loved the Moroccan-inspired pointy flats and the silver jewelry adorned with coins and crescents. Of course the shoes were sold out in my size and I wasn't so crazy about the patterned ones. I LOVED the flap bag with Pom Poms, but it was above my budget. Overall the collection felt more Moroccan than Dubai-an. I wish if they have incorporate more of the our gulf region's culture into the designs. Oh And I added to this post photos of Chanel's milk carton shaped python clutch bag embellished with a CC signature. They're not part of the Dubai colle

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?

To New Beginnings...

"What did this Corona crisis teach you?" my friend asked. My first thought was thing crisis has opened my eyes on the simple pleasures of life. My priorities have changed. And I feel every day is a new beginning. First of all, it made me realize how much I miss blogging. How simple and mentally satisfying it was to jolt down my thoughts on a field that I was very passionate about. I have to admit that I'm not as passionate now. Don't get me wrong, I still like fashion, but it's now on the bottom of my priorities list. I would like to blog about other things too that I feel much related to. I recently discovered that I do enjoy cooking. For the longest time, cooking to me was a nightmare.  This corona crisis has taught us that we can look forward to a new day with new possibilities to contribute or to help another, or to simply approach things differently, and most importantly to make the most of each day we have and share that goodness with others.
