Event: Petals and Metals at Bayt Lothan

Bayt Lothan is currently hosting an event which showcases talented young Kuwaiti florists and jewelers. I passed by the event on the day of its launch, and even though it was not a huge exhibition, it was definitely rich in terms of display. I first headed to The'hba's booth to check out Abdallah Al Awadhi's exclusive collaboration with the jewelry brand. The talented entrepreneur used verses of the holy Qura'an as well as famous quotes as part of his designs on necklaces, rings, and bracelets. You may already have seen them on my instagram account @confashions. They looked pretty amazing and make a perfect gift idea for someone special. I also loved the "Daughters of the moon" collection of necklaces, rings, and bracelets by the super talented Kuwaiti designer Muneera Al Sharhan. She cleverly mixed yellow gold pieces with opal stones, one of my favorite. I'm eyeing one piece already. I also liked the enamel girls charms dressed in Kuwaiti traditional clothes by new jewelry designer Nadia Al Harbi. According to the designer, she tries to reinterpret traditional designs into modern everyday wearable jewelry. You will find patterns of old sadu used in her designs as well.

As for the florists, I loved all of their arrangements  I'm not an expert in flower arrangements anyways, but they all looked so pretty and added a touch of romance to the exhibition's display. Among florists who participated were Ward Hessa and Lily Fleur

The lovely designer Abrar Al Ibrahim of The'hba.

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.

Magical Mode

As anyone who regularly reads Confashions may know, there are some designers I’ve been obsessed with for quite some time: one is the genius Erdem , the other is Nicholas Kirkwood , and Pierre Hardy . And because their designs are somehow easily accessible online and offline, I had the pleasure of featuring some of their creations and showing them the love they deserve. That said, there is one designer I’ve been particularly smitten with for quite some time. He has always been on the top of my favorite designers list ever since I was introduced to his designs by my fabulous fellow fashionisto Adnan Z Manjal   a couple of years back : Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi . I always wished I featured him more. I couldn’t because his pieces are very exclusive and as far as I know not stocked anywhere here. This clearly isn't just another post on my obvious love for Mohammed Ashi’s designs or the quality of his clothes as I have done that previously. Ashi simply deserves his very own epic p...

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?
