Marilyn Monroe & Harrods

This, my fellow fashionistas, is Marilyn Monroe's original dress on display at Harrods.  To celebrate the arrival of Harrod’s Five Dollar Shake greetings cards featuring sketches by Academy Award winning costume designer, William Travilla, a collection of three original dresses worn by Marilyn Monroe – including the gold lame dress from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes  – were on display in Harrods’ Gifts & Cards section.

I was mesmerized by the architecture of the 50+ years old dress. It was made by using one complete circle of fabric and all hand pleated.  For some reason, I was under the impression that Marilyn was tall but actually when I looked at the dress on the mannequin I think she was quite petite.

As for the window displays of Harrods, I wasn’t very impressed, there were only  2 or 3 window display that I really liked. The rest looked a bit boring compared to Harvey Nichols and Selfridges.  But I did like a lot of things that were on display like the soft and light colored suede fringed bags by Trussardi shown in the last photo.

I think this is a replica dress, hers did not have a fanned bow at the waist, it had several gold beads or buttons and the top of her halter sides was scalloped. I think rhis is a replica, based on all the photos I've seen.

Chanel Dubai Cruise 2015 Collection

I can't remember if I shared my views about Chanel's Dubai Cruise 2015 Collection on my blog or not, but I thought I'd share with you some photos of the pieces on display now at Chanel Boutique in Kuwait, Prestige in the Avenues and Salhiya Complex. I wasn't too crazy about the clothes. However, I did like some of the bags which had pompoms and tassels on them, as well as the gigantic pearl clutch. I also loved the Moroccan-inspired pointy flats and the silver jewelry adorned with coins and crescents. Of course the shoes were sold out in my size and I wasn't so crazy about the patterned ones. I LOVED the flap bag with Pom Poms, but it was above my budget. Overall the collection felt more Moroccan than Dubai-an. I wish if they have incorporate more of the our gulf region's culture into the designs. Oh And I added to this post photos of Chanel's milk carton shaped python clutch bag embellished with a CC signature. They're not part of the Dubai colle

Charles Oudin Luxury Watches

Last Saturday I met up with Claire of Charles Oudin , a brand of a prestigious parisian jewelry watches. I first met Claire during my visit to Jewellery Arabia Show in Bahrain last November, previous post here . Dana of the Overdressed introduced me to  Claire and the brand  Charles Oudin , which I fell in love with. Claire was in town visiting a friend, and she got in touch with me too to meet up. I thought it was a great opportunity to show her around old Kuwait city since she's never been here before, and get to know more about the brand.   I came to know that  Charles Oudin   was a talented watch maker from the early 19th century. Today’s Charles Oudin brand is about celebrating traditional and delicate forms. The timeless and ageless feminine look of  Charles Oudin 's  wrist watches make them desirable by people who appreciate luxury watches. They come in various styles, the rectangular case is slightly curved to fit over a lady’s wrist, and was specially desig
