Taking a Dose of Acid

Before you jump into conclusions and assumptions, I'm referring to fashion's latest dose of acid colors that is, by  Loewe . Acids is a new collection by the brand that showcases Loewe’s skill in the art of dyeing leather.  Loewe  is the master of bringing strong, bright color to leather while maintaining the leather's soft and high quality. I've been a fan of the Amazona bag for quite sometime, I was dying to get my hands on the Junya Watanabe Comme des Garçons  collaboration version, but of course it got sold out. So I'm contemplating now whether I should got for this yummy acid green Amazona. I think it would be a nice addition to the summer, wouldn't you say?

Shoe Shopping at Level Shoe District

Let me sum up this post by saying this, 96000 SQUARE FEET OF IMPECCABLY DESIGNED SPACE COMPLETELY FILLED WITH SHOES! I'm referring to Level Shoe District obviously from the title of this post. This is where I spend most of my time whenever I'm shopping in Dubai Mall. In addition to emerging shoes designers and medium-range brands, they carry every lux brand you can think of Sergio Rossi, Chanel, Prada, Miu Miu; etc. This place is not for the faint of heart, or one with weak wallet. The moment I stepped in, I'm instantly overwhelmed. And to my luck, the day I passed by the store, was the first day of their end-of-season sale. Rows and rows and rows of shoes, there were so many choices! And they had a dedicated area for new Resort 2014 collection. What is not to love?!!?!? Event: The 6th International Islamic Arts Convention at Kuwait's Grand Mosque

I have finally managed to visit the 6th International Islamic Arts Convention held currently at Kuwait's Grand Mosque, thanks to my dear friend who took me to the convention. I've been to the one they hosted in 2012, previous post here , and I enjoyed it so much that I didn't want to miss out on this one.  The convention was a great opportunity to highlight the significance of Islamic arts in our region. According to one of the organizers who guided us throughout the convention, the participants were over 80 Muslim artists and calligraphers from Kuwait, Turkey, Egypt, Syria, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, US, China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Jordan, Oman and Azerbaijan. The conventions was segmented into various sections, each dedicated to showcase the various Islamic art activities like Arabic calligraphy, ebru , illumination, marbling and ornamentation as well as holding lectures and workshops on all sorts of traditional Islamic arts and c...

Mr & Mrs Furs

Despite the rain storm and the high humidity (my hair is my antenna), January is probably going to become colder than I expected, which means one thing. The urge to buy a new coat is even higher than ever, and it seems that I can't stop thinking about this beyond gorgeous khaki parka jacket with its multi-pink fur lining by a brand called  Mr & Mrs Furs . Actually I've been eyeing this style for quite sometime but now that's sold out, ogling its images is the closest I could get! You can find similar styles by clicking here .

Just Like Jason Wu and Preen!

I haven't posted the usual  Just Like .... posts for quite sometime! So here's one for old times sake. I was shopping around the Avenues when I decided to pop in the popular Turkish fashion high-street-ish store  Ipekyol . The brand is known for its casual chic pieces with a mixture of vibrant color combination. I spotted two pieces that instantly reminded me of pieces designed by Jason Wu and Preen , as shown in the photos above. What do you think? Don't they look very similar?

Artist Dominik Jasiński

I was shopping in Shuwaikh the other day when I spotted a guy carrying a really cool hand-painted canvas handbag. I was hesitant at first to stop him and ask, I didn't want to freak him out, luckily for me, his friend must have noticed my interested because he immediately pointed to the bag and his friend and said " He actually hand-painted this bag, amazing ha? ". I instantly jumped in front of the poor guys, excited to find out more.  I came to know that he's an artist from Poland and his name is  Dominik Jasiński .   He is currently working in Kuwait, and he mainly specializes in oil paintings but started cooperating with bag designers, pottery designers and so on, to create a fusion of art and fashion. He invited me to Dar Al Funoon's exhibition which he took part in last month but unfortunately being swamped with work, I was unable to attend the exhibition. However, he was kind enough to send me photos of ...
